A film centred on the burgeoning birdwatching scene in the UK and the people transforming it, by broadening the demographic who occupy natural spaces. Birdwatching has a complicated history, in Britain and beyond, often deeply tied in to nationhood, colonialism and access to nature. Birdwatchers tells the stories of those challenging birdwatching being the preserve of the middle classes and an activity reserved for those in the British countryside.
